Xmas Trip to Swindon

I meant to add this about a week ago but was too tired/drunk/not bothered enough to do it but there we are. I wrote this right after the weekend in question.

What could be a better way to start the whole holiday with a 4/5 hour car journey? Well, I can think of lots of other, better ways to start it off but I suppose that will have to do as that is what I did anyway. So, that was fun, we managed to get to Exeter airport to pick up my stepdad, listening to my awful 80’s music and some Offspring and other awesome stuff which kept me going till Swindon. When we got there we had some time to kill so we went to this shopping… precinct I suppose, and it was absolutely sodding freezing, I thought it was cold in Cornwall but this was madness. The cold was piercing through my relatively thick hoody and making my nipples look like the spires on Winchester Cathedral…

Yeah… You can ignore that last point as much as you like… So, ah yes there I was, we eventually made it to my stepdad’s father’s place where we were staying and we had tea down at the local pub which was nice. I had a lush Cottage Pie, and a pint of Guinness, which, incidentally, was also nice. After that, we went down the road to a local social club, they had some awesome live music (more about that in a sec) and some nice Guinness (god i’m becoming a right little alcoholic…) So, about this live music, It looked at the start (and in a slightly less drunken state) like a god-awful club act that just did poor renditions of classic songs.. OH HOW WRONG WAS I? It was fantastic, a truly great voice and a fantastic act. He is currently half-way through recording a record (ironically) and I will be looking out in the shops for him. Just have to remember his name now… Sod it I’ll ask my stepdad… So that was a pretty good night, we came home, chatted and I ended up staying up drinking ’till 5:30am talking about the meaning of life and a whole host of other fun topics.

Not a bad start to a weekend methinks. Right, so, Saturday… We met up with my stepdad’s stepmum (this family just gets more confusing every second) and we had lunch together and I think something was up with the Guinness, cos it made me feel really quite ill and only could finish a third of a pint… Shocking… Then… Oh yeah, we were relased into Swindon town to do some Xmas shopping and stuff, quite a successful haul in my opinion still have some left to do (correct at time of typing (21/12/2008)) Then we went off to see more family and then back for Chinese (food not people) and then off to the club again for another live act (these not so good) and more alcohol…

‘Tsk tsk tsk, Martin’, I hear you all say. ‘Too much alcohol is bad for you, you shouldn’t be drinking this much.’ Well I say back to you: Sod off! So there. Anyway I digress, it was okay, not such good music he did some excellent Bon Jovi numbers to give him his credit. Earlier bed time though, only 1am this time.

Woke up at 11… *blushes* that’s the most I have ever consecutively slept in my life… Quick breakfast and then another sodding car journey back, luckily again another load of music played at an obscurely high volume. I am still slightly deaf from that but I’m sure it will pass and all will be okay again. Anyway, I’m tired and need sleep and I’m frozen, so bed for me now and then more shopping tomorrow… Hooray…

Will write again soon.

Quick One!

Well, its my last day of college today and I have a lot of work to do over the break but that’s the nature of the beast really.

Anyway thought I’d fire off a quick post before I had to go. Just to wish everyone a Merry Chistmas and a Happy New Year!

I updated the blog and its now 2.7! Not that it really changes much on the actual blog but it makes it easier for me to do all this via the new admin control panel. :) Most appreciated!

Anyway have a good one and don’t get too wasted! Or if you do, INVITE MEEE!

;) Speak again soon

Happy (politically incorrect) Christmas

Well, it’s the end of the year as we know it (and I feel fine) coming up to christmas  the festive holidays the holiday  the time in which people (of some races) get together for some reason* once again and I can’t even say ‘Merry Christmas’ without getting an ear-full from some bleeding heart about how I ’shouldn’t really say that’…

So it has become my mission to get ‘Merry Christmas’ back on the shelves… In my opinion, political correctness has gone too far. ‘They are not Christmas Trees, they are Holiday Trees’ or as one person said just ‘Trees’, this is too much. Everyone is worried that they might offend someone, sod them, I say, people choose to live in a country where Christmas has been a tradition for hundreds of years and then complain about it and bring about all this nonsense of ‘political correctness’. To be honest if they don’t like it the simple solution is to live somewhere else.

It’s not racist to go around saying ‘Merry Christmas’, quite obviously you don’t say it to anyone who doesn’t celebrate it, out of common courtesy, but come on…

Anyway, that’s quite enough of me going on about that. The site will remain updated over CHISTMAS (Q: How many people have I offended?  A: NONE!) and I will try and edit it and make it run a little smoother in running and fix some bugs and what-have -you. I may actually make the pages that are missing on the main site too… Seeing as I have time.

Anyway… Off to home! Sounds more like a plan every time I think of it..

Cheery-O and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

*What the hell is wrong with people…

Forcedbook…

It has taken 5 months of pure torment and constant telling me to get facebook and I finally caved in… I couldn’t take it any more… ‘Get facebook, get facebook, GET FACEBOOK!!!’ kinda gets a little bit annoying when it’s in your ears pretty much every day when you are trying to get on with your CISCO work or attempt OCRiPro…

So, guess what? I now have facebook… At first I was not keen at all, not impressed in the slightest however through a bit of use and exploring I am getting quite keen. I enjoy the fact you can comment on each others pictures and keep in contact with friends. Or more to the point, re-find friends that you have not seen for like 4 years. This last point being the most important as I have refound a friend that I have not seen for aaaages!

Yes, it’s been that long that it warrants the incorrect spelling… Anyhoo, I’m extremely pleased and excited to be talking again after so long and hopefully when we meet up it will be just as good, ach, what am I talking about I know it will. :)

So, apart from that, not much really going on, I have a load of other work to do and little motivation to get started on it, see, I would have no problem doing it if it was started, I could crack on and get it all done but I have a severe problem with starting work…

Oh well, I have my final examination for my First Aid thingy tonight, that will be fun, I had a great time playing with Annie (had to crowbar that joke in somewhere). Yes the Resusci-Annie was indeed a source of amusement for the less… mature members of my squadron but there we are, it could be a lot worse…

*Shudders* Actually, just thinking about how it could be worse is making my blood go cold…

Back to work I suppose… Fun fun!

Will write again soon!

The ZUNE Hath Landeth!!!

Hello one and all from a most thrilled and impressed me!

The reason for my utter excitement is because my zune has finally arrived. After an interesting ebay sell, with both buyer (me) and seller learning a lot about how paypal actually works, it’s finally landed in Cornwall and is currently sat in my pocket like a colossal blue/black brick made of solid awesome playing some delicious R.E.M.

I have some pictures to upload but unfortunately do not have my transfer cable with me. Oh it’s just gorgeous, if this and the iPod went into a beauty pageant the Zune would beat it and then accept the crown and a contract allowing it to behead the iPod for just being a pile of junk. The UI is easy to read and use, it has nice intuative little menus and has very little you really need to do to get it up and running. Getting the Zune Social bit set up was a nightmare thanks to the website not letting anyone but Americans and Canadians register, but a swift search on google and eventual giving up by me, followed by my friend’s successful attempt put me back into ‘The Social’. It has great sound quality and it has great compatibility with several filetypes.

Unfortunately the standard headphones suck on an electric fence and start to hurt your ears after an hour or so, but it’s not exactly hard to go and buy a pair of decent ones on the cheap so not all is lost. The strange fuzzy sheath that it comes with doesn’t really fit very well but with some extensive use it loosens up and works quite nicely. It has a very strange hibernation method which I’ve not figured out how to get out of yet but random prodding of buttons seems to make it work. Which is nice. I suppose.

Anyway this will be updated when i get home, heading off from work now.

Will finish later.
