Clocky – The clock you have to physically hunt down…

My clock has arrived! I am most impressed by this marvellous invention. I got home from work last Thursday to find a package with my name on it sitting on the dining table, I wasn’t expecting anything, until I remembered that I had ordered a new alarm clock and It was nearing the stated arrival date on eBay.

Clocky - the bloody annoying alarm clock

Clocky - the bloody annoying alarm clock

You should have seen the utter look of surprise on my face and joy in my heart when the object I took out of the box was far cooler than the object I saw on the Internet. This clock is fantastic. Normally people aren’t this enthusiastic about a inanimate object that wakes you up but this is brilliant. It literally scoots off your bedside table and roams around your room looking for a place to hid and beep.  It really gets you out of bed.

Anyway, just a quick one today.

Back to work now. Eugh…

Hungry eyes, I feel the magic between you and I

Oh good, another week (or so) another 80’s track that will be with me for ages causing me to whistle and/or hum it at every given moment of every waking hour of every day. My friends all hate my music, but hell, what do they know… I was born 10 years too late… Not impressed.

So this weekend was pretty good, Friday was it’s same mediocre self, just going to cadets and doing other, more tedious, tasks. Saturday on the other hand was fantastic! I got another 4.32 Gb of pure 80’s pop music. Well, I was impressed anyway, even if you are not. Also, Samson (one of my friends) and I planned a get-together that actually bloody worked. So we went down to the Blue Anchor in Helston and had some pintage with a few mates and people from college and a good time was had by all despite the awful weather. Speaking of which, at about 11:30ish the wind really picked up and caused the power to go out for a while. The power came back on for the rest of Helston but the pub in question stayed in the dark. At this point people were leaving so I followed suit because I had to get the bus back at 12 anyway and I was starving. Off to the Grill we go (myself and two mates) where feasting commenced until my bus arrived and I managed to get home still feeling quite sober which is probably a good thing. I think my liver has been punished enough for the past few months. Well, the way I see it is that it’s been slacking for 18 years so its time for it to get a good workout.

Sunday was a tedious day, promises of good weather squashed by the time I was awake. I was planning some running but it was awful so that was put off. Oh well, I had fun on Left 4 Dead. I mean, got on with my coursework (it’s partly true, I did get some done)

Anyway, thought I’d share my weekend with you all. Ahh faithful fans, I love you all :D

Take care,

Until next time,

Martin :P

What a good place to be – Don’t Believe it

So, thanks to my desire to listen to enough music from the 80s to force even the most heavily waistcoated, mulleted, pop star of that particular era bash his face in with a limited edition of a Pet Shop Boys album, I have ‘Happy Hour’ by The Housemartins stuck in my sodding head and if I whistle it once more I swear I’m going to chop off my tongue and sellotape it to the mantlepiece in a vain attempt to stop the frigging song from swirling around in my tiny cranium anymore…

The past week or so has been alright I guess, not much really happening just chilling and getting by at college and work and what-have-you. I got promoted to Sergeant on Friday (for those of you that don’t know I’m in the Air Training Corps) so that was fun, very pleased with that. Umm, oh I had a fun weekend of work and sleep, actually it was about as entertaining as trying to use live piranas as a condom. Then yesterday was more work :D Yes, for once, the lazy git known as Martin actually got up off his arse and got on with some sodding work…

Oh I also bought a fantastic clock. More about that when it arrives, I feel that it will need a proper introduction to the blog as it is a pretty amusing piece of kit. Designed soley to annoy the living christ out of the user and possibly the rest of the household. I promised Zune pictures and here they are:

Apologies for bad quality, I think my camera is on a strange setting and I need to change it. However, these will do for now…

Tum te tum, I love Tuesdays, it’s such a lazy day. I don’t really have to do anything. I only have one lecture and its Computing, which is a fun time :D See, if I had a car, I could stay in bed till late and mooch around until about lunchtime and then drive into college. But as of yet, no car, no licence… I think I need to go to Swansea and pummel the workers at DVLA…

Right-ho I’m off, things to see, people to do… Sorry, I meant things to DO, people to SEE. Nice to see that insanity has it’s grip firmly on my brain and will not let go even for the delicious pie that has just come out of the oven…

Mmmm… Pie….

New Year (and sod all has changed)

I woke up on the morning of the 1st January and thought, ‘This year is going to be no different to last year.’ Was I right? Yes, yes I was. The war is still going on in Iraq, there is still famine and homelessness in the world and we still don’t have hover-cars.

We were lied to, we were told that 2009 was going to be the shimmering light as far as years go, new beginnings, better prospects, more hover-cars. Okay not so much about the hover-cars but I was expecting a lot. Maybe I was expecting too much too soon. After all it’s only six days into it.

So, what can I say about the end of 2008, to be honest, not much. For a start my beloved Zune died quite spectacularly, well, every 30Gb 1st Gen Zune did. Just a small problem with the coding of the in-built clock, causing it to incorrectly calculate how a leap year is handled. Basically it completely spazzed out when it discovered an extra day in the year and refused to start up, at all, this was solved by mourning my dead technology for the day and waiting for the clock to reset after 24 hours. What else? Umm, my phone is suffering a severe case of the gremlins and has battery problems, it just decides it’s funny to switch off at random points, mostly when talking to someone or just starting to send a text.

I hope 2009 picks up. I mean, at the moment, it just feels like it is going to be another mediocre year, passing us by without anything significant happening.

Right so, now that I have whinged until my ears have bled, I think it’s time for a coffee break. Ahh, the joys of free internet at work, it means that I can go and update my website without being harassed by a million youngsters all asking for internet access at the same time…

Will write again soon,

Martin :P
