“Well isn’t this a surprise? Two posts in one week? Oooh you must be bored!”I can almost hear it traversing across the great astral plains that are the internet. Well no, no I am not bored so you can all stop feeling smug now; I just needed this post alright?! May I continue? Thanks…
Anyway it has come to a conclusion that no matter how much I bang on about the new forum it seems that there are only a handful of new users that seem to use the bloody thing and the rest of them seem to just run onto it, register, prat about with personalisation setting and then leave without posting at all. This is not how forums work at all; and I’m beginning to re-think the idea. I mean, what’s the point of keeping it if the damn thing is just squatting uselessly on the internet twiddling it’s thumbs and whistling nonchalantly at the passers-by? So from as soon as I can be bothered I think it will be axed, making more room for all you wonderful people to read the blog, the important part… Well it is really, the front was just a waste of time and html so that’s also being axed for a nicer and easier front page, with no gimmicky rubbish. We shall concentrate squarely on the blog and hope that I don’t get sued for anything.
Ahhh, rant over. I can breathe a sigh of relief. Time to talk about something else. Hrrm… What’s new? Umm… Oh yes! I have a Bonsai Tree now, it’s a ficus (fig tree), and I hope that it’ll bring forth miniature figs, makes sense to me; miniature tree – miniature fruit, I see nothing wrong with that correlation. I haven’t named it because that’s just silly but I have decided to decorate it with tiny Buddha’s and a shiny rock thing and I think I’m going to grow it so that it has its roots over a stone. They seem to look awesome. Not quite sure how to go about that but I needn’t worry for the next few years anyway, it needs to mature a bit; looks nice though.
Still not driving yet, that’s still to come, I can’t wait though. It’s going to be expensive but I think it’ll be cheaper than public transport in the long run; it’s far too expensive to go anywhere here. Nearly a fiver to get to the local town and back; that’s $10 USD (ish) and about €6.25 (ish). See how kind I am, that’s free currency conversion there… Well, not entirely accurate but we try here at PillowMint to ensure everyone is happy.
Right that’s enough of me for today. You must be sick of reading this now after two posts in one week.

Listening to the radio the other week brought forth a mix of emotions, mainly anger and annoyance at today’s music industry. All it seems to be these days is pre-programmed electronic sounding crap, too many female ‘Artists’ that all sound the same and enough Rap “singers”, in massive sarcasm quotes, to found a small island nation. So I thought to myself; “When will I hear something new and decent, played by real musicians, using real instruments, singing without voice filters that makes you want to go out and buy their album?” Apparently some sort of thought capturing device was in use that day because I was given a CD of a band called ‘Call to Arms’ who does not have a record label, but whose music I would gladly shell out for. This weekend, I was privileged enough to go and listen to this fantastic band play live at the Sand Bar in Praa Sands in my native Cornwall.
I suppose I should say more about them other than they have made me rethink that the music industry is full of phenomenal idiots and wannabes. They are a local band which plays punk/rock, that they write themselves and have been spending the last few years building up a great collection of songs and making a few live appearances here and there around the country. Call to Arms is a truly amazing band and one that I’d recommend to anyone who is also frustrated with the music industry at the moment and anyone that loves good music actually. You can find them at: http://en-gb.facebook.com/pages/Call-to-Arms/128295205890, http://www.myspace.com/calltoarmspunkrock and http://calltoarmspunkrock.co.uk/freetracks/freetracks.html , out of date, you can also find a discussion on them in the forum.
Listen to them and you’ll realise that there may be hope yet for us. I think that with enough publicity and some effort by the fans to spread the word and get them noticed we can get the ball really rolling for them. Ben, Chris, Sam, Andy and Joe we are rooting for you and you have PillowMint’s full support.
Cheers all,
Speak again soonish,
Martin
I must have an addictive personality, there is no way that things can get stuck in my head quite as often as it does with me if I don’t. This time it’s the Hello Kitty’s Paradise Theme that’s been swirling around in my grey matter for a day now and I have to say it’s bloody annoying, not your regular annoying, the really annoying one. The one that makes you hum it while you are going for a walk to the shops and won’t leave you alone, even when you are trying to sleep. So there we are, another in a long list of things that are horrifically catchy and shouldn’t be allowed.
I would apologise for not posting for a millennia but that would be pointless as I’m sure that I’ve lost a good 50% of my readers as it is. I have been busy trying to get work and the learnign to drive thing is really getting underway now and I’ve been wanting to blast through that and get it all done ASAP. I’ve also been moving house at the start of the summer which is proving to be about as much fun as trapping your finger in the door of an elevator.
Anyway, about the summer, not much happening apart from the driving and the settling into new place and of course the many many social events, birthdays and parties for the sake of it. I’m sure I had a few things to rant about but I seem to have forgotten them like my mind is made mostly of that useless metal with holes that they use to make sieves with….
I have a few reviews to do so that should keep me occupied and hopefully increase the traffic to the site again. I said that I was making cosmetic changes but with no internet, or at least minimal access to it, it’s proving to be a little bit difficult. I’ll be posting soon, I promise, I need to make a few posts anyway with reviews of stuff and to outline the new road that PillowMint will be taking.
Speak Soon,
Martin
